April 2026 Business Due Dates & Compliance Guide

April brings critical business tax deadlines. Whether you operate out of Orlando, San Diego, Dallas, or anywhere across the country, missing these dates can trigger IRS enforcement. At Dixson Tax Resolution Services LLC, we see firsthand how easily a missed payroll tax deposit can snowball into a serious tax controversy. Here are the key April 2026 due dates to keep your business on track.

April 15 Deadlines

C-Corporations: File your 2025 income tax return (Form 1120) and pay any tax due. Need more time? File Form 7004 for an automatic 6-month extension and deposit your estimated tax. Extensions protect against late filing penalties, not late payments. Your first installment for 2026 estimated taxes is also due.

Payroll & Withholding: Deposit Social Security, Medicare, and withheld income taxes for March if you follow the monthly deposit rule. This applies to non-payroll withholding as well.

Fiduciary Returns: Timely file your 2025 Form 1041 (Estates and Trusts) or submit an extension.

April 30 Deadlines

Form 941 & Payroll Taxes: File Form 941 for the first quarter of 2026. Deposit unpaid tax. If your liability is under $2,500, pay it with your return. If fully deposited on time, you have until May 11 to file.

FUTA: Deposit federal unemployment tax owed through March if it exceeds $500.

Weekends, Holidays, & Disasters

Deadlines falling on weekends or holidays automatically shift to the next business day. Additionally, the IRS extends due dates for designated disaster areas. Check for active declarations here:
